Although I do not make graphics anymore, these were an important part of my early life online where I frequently made pixel art - though I was never that good at it! Nonetheless, here live the graphics I found on old hard drives dating as far back as 2003!

Quilting Bee

The Quilting Bee was a collaborative pixel art project where members would patch together squares of pixel art to form a quilt. You can read more about it here. Sadly, all the patches I collected from the quilting bee have been lost to time, but I do still have the original patch and my attempt, from 2003.

Pixel art stylised as a patch to be used in a patchwork, there is a little bee saying The Q Bee as it hovers in a sky with clouds and a rainbow.

Pixel art stylised as a patch to be used in a patchwork, it is of a little green frog sitting on a lily pad against a deep blue background.

Dollz

Dollz originally came from The Palace, a type of online graphical chatroom. I used to make dollz on there in exchange for my own room on a server. I believe I have lost all of the dollz from this time, but I do still have many dollz I made after I left The Palace and joined dolling forums. Here are some of the ones I made in 2003 and 2004.

I apologise for not crediting the base authors, I unfortunately do not have them saved

A light skinned pixel doll in a deep blue dress with black hair in an bun hanging down.

A light skinned brown haired pixel doll wearing purple patterned flares, with a matching top and headband. She holds a purple fan and is blinking slowly.

A light skinned short auburn haired pixel doll in a Christmas themed outfit, wearing a Santa hat, red long sleeved jumper, dark green mini skirt, and black knee-high boots, holding her left index finger to her mouth.

A light skinned long haired blonde pixel doll wearing a light blue dress and chunky pale blue shoes. Judging by the file name, this apparently was a contest entry.

Despite not wearing glasses, I think this is a pixel doll of me, light skinned with long brown hair wearing blue flared jeans, a dark blue top, and a light denim jacket, with my hands on my hips.

A light skinned pixel doll wearing a Red Devil halloween costume, with black shoulder length hair.

A light skinned pixel doll with the words Happy Birthday Sis! across the middle. She is wearing a pale purple floor length gown and has black hair tied back. I've never had a sister, so I assume I made this for a friend.

A light skinned pixel doll with shoulder length purple hair and outfit consisting of drop top, shorts, leg warmers and shoes. According to the file name, she might be called Jennie.

A light skinned brown haired pixel doll has her hair tied back, and wears a karate outfit with an orange belt. I assume this is me due to the hair colour, glasses, and how I used to go to karate classes.

Another pixel doll of me, with large jean flares, a blue crop top, purple bobble hat, and a long purple scarf. My hair is in a reddish brown bob.

A light skinned pixel doll stylised as a mermaid, with long blue hair, crop top, tail, and see-through veil from above her mouth down to her neck.

A light skinned pixel doll with a flipped out brown style, brown top, pink mini skirt skirt, and black knee length boots.

I remember this was one of my first efforts at pixelling dolls. A light skinned pixel doll holding a microphone in one hand and fist bumping with the other. She has long pink hair, and wears a pink crop top, pink shoes, and black flares.

A light skinned pixel doll with knee high purple boots, a lilac mini skirt, and dark lavender crop top. She has her light lavender hair up in a very messy curly bun.

One of my later efforts, probably using the PaintShop Pro that came free with my Dad's printer purchase. This long brown haired light skinned pixel doll with a floating red orb above her right hand, which is casting a red glow on her body. She is wearing red flares and a red crop top with long flowing sleeves. According to the file name, she might be called Sallira.

A light skinned pixel doll with long light blue hair, a red top, brown jeans, and brown shoes. According to file name, she might be called Strzzie?

A pixel doll who looks like a toddler. She is light skinned, sitting on the ground with long brown hair, pink trousers, and a yellow top with a link heart on it.

An alien style pixel doll with light green skin and hair, and iridescent wings. She is barefooted and wears a drop knee length skirt and a brown crop top.

A light skinned pixel doll wearing a white crop top, brown jeans, and blue sneakers. Her purple hair is up in a messy bun. She is also wearing glasses, earrings and a silver belt with a star hanging off it.

A pixel doll of me, light skinned and brown haired, wearing tracksuit bottoms, sneakers, and a blue top with the Leeds United emblem on it, my favourite football club.

A pixel doll with blue boots, pink socks, purple fishnet stockings, dark teal shorts, and a red top. She has bright coloured pom-pom earrings, and rainbow coloured shredded belt. Her red hair has purple beads in it and is up in a bun. According to the file name, she might be called Zarlini.

Blinkies

The first foray into animated images was through the creation of blinkies, and here are a couple I made back in 2003. Because these are animated, I have these blurred by default for those who have photosensitive epilepsy, on desktops you can hover over them, or tap on them if on mobile, to remove the blur.

A fast red blinkie with my name Jessica, as a heart runs across the top with a smiley face inside. The animation moves from left-to-right and lights up my name in black before flashing a couple of times and then repeats.

I remember joining a popular forum when I was a young teenager, and when it was relaunched, I got the name username Angel. This was the blinkie I made that was attached to the posts we made: A blue blinkie with the word Angel. The word fills up and empties down in white in a loop.

I sadly cannot recall the story behind this. A slowly animated blinkie with the word Starlight and a small dark blue star at the end. The letters are in light blue circles, and they changes to a lilac-blue colour as the animation runs left-to-right, flashing at the end, before repeating.
