#TuneTuesday is a weekly musical prompt hashtag by @Kitty who pulls a theme out of a box. Here are my entries:

- Sophie Ellis-Bextor - “Make A Scene”
- I’m not sure how to gauge this, in terms of what is popular and what isn’t, but I think when people of Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s discography, I don’t really hear people talk about “Make a Scene”, and I absolutely love it.
#SongShouldBeAMovie
- Carly Rae Jepsen - “Beach House”
- I think a rom-com of Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Beach House” would be pretty fun, with the protagonist having their romances end due to ever more ridiculous reasons.
#SongsYouWereToldToListenTo
#CircleRoundSongs
- Tove Lo - “cycles”
- “I’m in a cycle - Yeah, I admit it - How can I change it when I don’t know when I’m in it? - I’m in a cycle - Swear this is different - Don’t wanna end it, if you leave then I keep spinnin’”

#InvoluntaryAirGuitar
#PowerSongs
- Carly Rae Jepsen - “Cut To The Feeling”
- A power-pop bop which always lifts me up.

- Carly Rae Jepsen - “Making the Most of the Night”
- I adore Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Emotion”, and it would be an album of no skips, if it weren’t for “Making the Most of the Night”, which is probably a good song based on the rest of the album, but I don’t actually know because the mixing on it is so bad it literally hurts my ears and I have to stop playing it. Honestly, just tried to play it now and had to stop halfway through!

I’ve chosen “Lost” by Amanda Palmer, with these lyrics near the end I find particularly comforting regarding death:
“No one’s ever lost forever - When they die they go away - But they will visit you occasionally - Do not be afraid - No one’s ever lost forever - They are caught inside your heart - If you garden them and water them - They make you what you are”

#TravellingTunes
- Pet Shop Boys - “Single - Bilingual”
- This gives a lighthearted first person account of a pretty embarrassing and desperate to impress businessman travelling within Europe from the UK.
#BigRockEnding
- Ashe - “Angry Woman”
- I’ve chosen Ashe’s “Angry Woman”, which, although a bit short, builds nicely to a great big ending.
#FunSong
- Annie Murphy - “A Little Bit Alexis”
- From the TV show Schitt’s Creek, the storyline is that the character Alexis had a reality show in the 2000s and this was the theme tune for it. As such, it parodies songs of that time by Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, and adds in high levels of absurdity. It’s a ridiculously stupid song, but I absolutely love it, and play it regularly!
#MusicEvolution
- BoA - “ID; Peace B”
- BoA - “Forgive Me”
- BoA’s gone on to have a wildly successful career in both South Korea and Japan, having become fluent in Japanese and releasing original music there as well as covers of her Korean music. During her career of over twenty years, she’s released over twenty albums and over seventy singles!
#ShakeTheDanceFloor
- Billie Piper - “Day and Night”
- I’m not one for dance floors, but little Jessica would go to a school disco in her favourite denim jacket, sparkly tights, and giant scrunchie, bopping along in the corner to this
#MusicStreets
- Pet Shop Boys - “Where The Streets Have No Name (I Can’t Take My Eyes Off You)”
- Please tell me no one else has done the masterpiece that this is!!!
#ForMoviesSake
- Pitbull - “Back In Time”
- I found this really hard because I can easily separate good music from a terrible film, but then considered bad things done to songs by movies… And so, I would argue, Men In Black 3, with the help of Pitbull, took a great hook from Love Is Strange by Mickey & Sylvia and turned it into this monstrosity
#ThatIsActuallyGood
- Take That - “Kidz”
- Uh, this is dangerous for me as someone with many guilty pleasures and a bad taste in music!! I don’t necessarily pretend not to like certain artists, but my Dad is quite a music snob, so I kept some songs I liked quiet! One of them is “Kidz” by Take That, which I heard on the radio when it was released and really enjoyed it
#LoveItBroughtIt
- Paradise of Yesterday - “Disco”
- I believe all my recent purchases were large discounted discographies from #vaporwave labels on Bandcamp! Having a quick look through, looks like “Miami” by “Paradise of Yesterday” was in the last batch, and I think the track “Disco” is my favourite off the album
#Songs4BrokenHearts
- FKA twigs - “cellophane”
- Not had a broken heart, but I can feel the immense sadness and heartbreak from FKA twigs here.
#Songs4Vampires
- Brian David Gilbert - “Lay All Your Love On Me”
- Not just a Halloween staple, I listen to this throughout the year it’s so good!!
